This epistolary work shows the close relationship of two great figures of the Mexican culture. While the writers' different concerns are presented at the same time, the relationship of two generations is shown: Alfonso Reyes as the reformer of education and art after the Mexican Revolution, and José Luis Martínez as an explorer to define the Mexican identity. With a careful prose, they lead us to understand the needs of their corresponding time, and unknowns that even today beckon to reflection.
